THE GOOD HAIRCARE ROUTINE

A self love ritual

BE GENTLE

The scalp is a living, responsive system, and the hair is a delicate assembly of inanimate, viscoelastic biomaterial that, unlike living tissue, does not self-repair or regenerate once damaged.

Treat both with care!

HAIR WASH FREQUENCY

Too Much

Overwashing your hair can cause hygral fatigue, which is damage that occurs when the hair fibres repeatedly swell and contract due to cycles of wetting and drying. Over time, this weakens the hair, causing frizz, brittleness and breakage.

Too Little

Underwashing your hair can cause buildup, clogged follicles, disrupted scalp microbiome, inflammation, and bad odor (nobody wants that, especially not those who are fortunate to be close to you).

Ideal

2–3 hair washes a week is perfectly civilised and the sweet-spot for most hair/scalp types to stay clean and balanced.

BREAK UP WITH SULFATE SURFACTANTS

Sulfate surfactants (like SLS/SLES/SCS) are strong, highly efficient detergents capable of stripping not just dirt and excess oil but also essential lipids and proteins. This can disrupt the skin's acid mantle and microbiome, compromising the skin barrier.

Elevate your routine with our sulfate-free shampoo, a non-stripping, non-drying formula that cleanses without compromising your scalp and hair.

RENASCENCE SHAMPOO (Discover)

Washing your hair is the foundational step in any haircare routine. By using the correct products and techniques, you can avoid common hair washing mistakes, and instead enjoy the perfect wash day every time.

1. Brush your hair to detangle before wetting the hair. To avoid breakage and cuticle damage, start detangling from the tips, not from the roots.

2. Wet your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water. Lukewarm water supports effective cleansing without causing excessive hair shaft swelling.

3. Lather the shampoo in your palms before applying to your scalp. Focus on massaging your scalp (where sebum and dirt build up), not the ends. Be gentle when massaging to avoid damaging your hair.

4. Rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water, ensuring all foam is removed.

5. We recommend double shampooing. The first shampooing works to break down the buildup of grease or dirt on the scalp and hair. The second shampooing ensures the residue is fully washed away, and you will be able to go longer between wash days.

WATER TEMPERATURE

As cathartic as a steaming hot shower is for the soul, it is far less ideal for the hair. Hot water causes excessive hair shaft swelling, aggressively lifting the cuticle layers and making strands vulnerable to dryness, frizz, and breakage.

Use lukewarm water, which is gentler and supports effective cleansing without compromising the structural integrity of the hair.

REDEMPTION CONDITIONER (Discover)

Redemption Conditioner deeply nourishes the hair and smooths dry and damaged cuticles, while protecting the hair from UV-damage, humidity and pollution.

1. While conditioner should be applied to wet hair, a common mistake is applying it to dripping wet hair. When the hair is saturated it is unable to absorb all the goodness of your conditioner, and the product will slide right off and down the drain. Instead, blot your hair with a soft microfiber towel post cleanse.

2. Apply the conditioner generously from the mid-lengths to the tips, or from the roots to the tips, as desired.

3. To ensure even coverage, work around your hair in sections. Use your fingers to gently detangle without ripping or creating tension.

4. Leave the conditioner in for at least 1-3 minutes, allowing the ingredients to penetrate and deliver their benefits.

5. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and finish with cool water. Cold water helps to smooth and close the hair cuticle, making the hair shinier and less prone to frizz.

6. Hair is at its most fragile when wet, and the way you dry your hair has a big impact on hair health and texture. Rough towel drying can cause tangles, frizz and damage to wet hair. Instead, use a soft towel to squeeze the excess water out of your hair.

DENSER, FULLER & HEALTHIER HAIR

Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. Skipping scalp serum is like skipping moisturiser because your skin “looks" fine. A well-nourished scalp is the foundation of strong growth, and resilient, vibrant hair.

Even if your scalp appears perfectly content, daily care is essential.

Scalp serum maintains balance, strengthens the skin barrier, improves hair growth, and prevents issues before they happen. A few drops a day can transform the future of your hair.

ANTIMATTER SCALP SERUM (Discover)

1. Use on a clean (dry or damp) scalp, allowing the serum to penetrate effectively without excess oil or dirt.

2. Squeeze the dropper and apply drops of serum directly onto your scalp all over or focus on areas of concern (thinning spots, dry patches or irritation).

3. After applying, use your fingertips to gently massage the serum into your scalp for 1–2 minutes. This increases blood circulation and ensures product distribution.

4. Do not rinse. Leave the serum to dry naturally or blow dry on a low heat setting. Whether you air dry or blow dry, the serum creates body and subtle lift at the roots.

5. Apply once daily, and allow at least 3 months of consistent, daily use before evaluating results. When desired results have been achieved, use 2-3 times a week to maintain effect.

ANTIOXIDANT PROTECTION

UV-radiation induces photochemical reactions in the hair, breaking down keratin, oxidising melanin, and degrading the lipid layer that protects the cuticles, collectively causing photo-yellowing, colour fade, lifted cuticles, porosity and dryness.

Once this damage is done, it cannot be reversed.

Resurgence Blowout Crème provides antioxidant protection, intercepting damaging chemical reactions before they compromise the hair structure — preserving colour and structural integrity.

RESURGENCE BLOWOUT CRÈME (Discover)

Resurgence Blowout Créme protects the hair structure against the damaging impact from UV-radiation, pollution, heat and mechanical stress, while also nourishing and rejuvenating each strand.

On damp hair: Apply a light, even layer to towel-dried hair, focusing on mid-lengths and ends. Blow-dry thoroughly before using any hot styling tools — never use hot styling tools on damp or wet hair.

On dry hair: Use daily to replenish moisture and refresh protection.

Finisher: Smooth a small amount through dry ends to add definition, control frizz, and tame flyaways.

HEAT PROTECTION

Resurgence Blowout Crème is your hair’s security detail when you heat-style, guarding to prevent heat- and mechanical damage. The formula protects against heat damage up to 450°F/230°C. The formula does not protect against bad practises.

Always respect the thermodynamics. Never heat style on wet or damp hair. Never use extreme heat.

MECHANICAL STRESS & TENSION

Raking a comb or brush straight from the scalp down creates friction, tangles, and mechanical stress along the hair shaft. This results in cuticle abrasion, strand breakage, and traction at the follicular root, weakening the anchoring structures over time.

Use your fingers or a soft brush. Start at the ends and work your way up. Work in sections, if needed.

Test your brush on your skin. If it feels rough on the skin, it’s too abrasive for your hair. Choose softer bristles to minimise mechanical damage.

Slick buns and ponytails are chic until your follicles give up. Constant tension leads to breakage and traction alopecia (hair loss from tension), specially around the hairline where the hair structure and the hair anchoring are weakest.
